At the start of June ITS Ukraine’s Chairman Ian Bearder participated in a two day meeting with the Network of National ITS Associations.
It was a productive meeting with many members expressing their happiness to see that ITS Ukraine had been created and interest in our work. As our first official meeting since the launch of ITS Ukraine – it was a good start and a nice introduction to many of our colleagues from neighbouring countries including Slovakia, Poland and Bulgaria.
The first day of the meeting included several presentations from national experts on how their country is collecting, using and maintaining ‘spacial data’ and how they have overcome various challenges during this process. Such data is used for mapping, traffic management, urban development and even national security – so its obviously an important area and a huge amount of experience is available should Ukraine need support in this area in the future.
